The Prayer Connection

Welcome to this prayer webpage designed to unite our church family in prayer throughout the week. Even if you have only a few minutes, reflect on the scripture verses, prayer focus, and inspirational thoughts. Pray that our congregational life will be strengthened in a meaningful way.

Come to the Cross

What is the cross to you? Is it jewelry or polished wood? Is it an event in which you participate on communion Sunday? Is it a place that you frequent and where your heart is deeply touched?

We often need some symbol to remind us of a spiritual truth. Today or tomorrow, find a visual symbol of the cross. Sit alone in silence before it. Do nothing but look and listen. Let the God who once hung on that cross speak.

Take time to look, to cherish, to embrace the old rugged cross.

“O sacred Head, now wounded,
with grief and shame weighed down,
Now scornfully surrounded
With thorns thy only crown.
O sacred Head, no glory.
Now from your face does shine;
Yet, though despised and gory,
I joy to call you mine.

- O Sacred Head, Now Wounded
words by Bernard of Clairvaux
