Stephen Ministry

Are you going through a difficult time? Want to share with someone who is trained in giving care to others? Do you need someone to listen?

Stephen Ministers are trained to provide one-to-one confidential Christian care-giving to individuals who are going through difficult times. People sometimes feel more comfortable discussing their lives with a peer rather than a pastor at the church. Stephen Ministers can be best described as compassionate companions.

The name comes from Stephen Ministries, a Christian nonprofit that shows lay people how to care for others in the church. Grantham Church has been offering Stephen Ministry for years. We believe it is an excellent way to “Love one another as I have loved you” (John 15:12).

Stephen Ministers provide care to individuals facing a variety of experiences, including:

  •  Loneliness
  • Loss
  • Retirement Changes
  • Discouragement
  • Hospitalization
  • Grief
  • Terminal Illness

All of Stephen Ministers’ consultations are kept confidential. Men are matched up with men, and women talk to women. We work hard to look out for both the care giver and receiver in these relationships. Please let us know if you are interested in becoming a Stephen Minister or want to be connected with a Stephen Minister. You can contact us at office@granthamchurch.org.
