Email From the Pastor

Hello Brothers & Sisters,

It was a joy worshipping with you Sunday. I trust that you felt the presence of the Spirit and were aware of how he was moving among us. Thank you for being present and alert to how God is speaking to his people.

If you missed the sermon, you can listen to Yeshua: A Messiah for the Exiles (6 of 9) and access the sermons slides as well. You will also notice that we have provided discussion questions there for further study in small groups.

This Sunday is Missions Sunday 2016: Christ for a Post-Christian World.

Jonathan Lloyd (BIC World Missions) will be bringing the message in worship and Melissa Shumaker will be sharing about her missionary work during Learning Communities. She will also be sharing her musical gifts toward the end of the service.

Every year Grantham Church gives attention to a specific country or region in the world. This year we knew that Melissa (a former intern at Grantham) would be in the area, so it made sense to make some adjustments and focus on the work of our denomination in Spain. This fits well with our current sermon series theme because Europe has been “post-Christian” for a couple of centuries now. We are now feeling the impact of what began across the pond.

What can we learn from our missionaries in a region of the world that threw off Christendom long ago? How can they help us navigate the changes to come in our own country? What can they teach us about engaging a post-Christian world with our faith and the gospel of Christ? These are a few concerns that will be addressed on Sunday.

We tried to get the Bundy family to join us for this event, but they weren’t able to be here. However, we did manage to schedule Bruce to speak this Wednesday night at 6:00 pm during Prayer Meeting in A1. Both the Bundy family and Melissa are missionaries in Spain that call Grantham home. We gladly support them in their efforts.

I hope you will join us this Sunday and stay for lunch in the fellowship hall following the service. We are looking forward to a great time of worship, fellowship, and conversation about how the Spirit is moving in the world.

Until then, I leave you with this blessing from the Scriptures as you walk with Christ this week:

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”  Number 6:24-26 NIV

Grace & Peace,

Pastor David
