Email From the Pastor

Dear Brothers & Sisters,
Greetings from Florida! I hope your week is off to a great start.
I would first like to thank Devin Manzullo-Thomas for preaching while I’m away. I’m sure you were blessed by the insights our brother shared with you in worship. Devin is a gift to our church and denomination.
As you know, I’m writing this letter to you from General Conference at Stetson University, just outside of Orlando. I have been here with delegates from our church for several days now. We appreciate your continued prayers. We will be returning home tomorrow afternoon.
The theme for BIC U.S. General Conference 2016 is called “One”—testifying that “we gather together as one body, one family, one church; brothers and sisters committed to Jesus and with a desire to see his Kingdom come.” We have heard inspiring stories of the Spirit’s work in BIC churches around the country. We have also been working through the necessary business of the General Conference for a healthier denomination.
This is my first experience of General Conference. I have not only enjoyed making connections and getting to know other pastors and leaders within the BIC, I have been encouraged by the whole event. I have received a warm welcome into Grantham Church and this wonderful denomination, the Brethren in Christ.
The highlight for me has been seeing how God is visibly raising up young leaders who are excited about the historical distinctives of the BIC and are hopeful about the future of the church. The Lord is certainly up to something in our denomination.

I think we should celebrate what God is doing among us.
Finally, if you missed the ice cream social last week, please join us for another meet-and-greet this Wednesday at 7 p.m. And remember, I’ll be preaching my first sermon this coming Sunday, July 17th. I hope you will join us for worship as I bring a message entitled, Why I Believe in the Church (And You Should Too).
See you soon!
Pastor David
