Being “religious” isn’t something a lot of people want to be known for today. For many post-9/11 Americans, adopting a specific religion is exclusive and fuels division (even violence) in our world. And for committed Christians, being “religious” has become synonymous with being hypocritical or Pharisaical. So, it’s better to be “spiritual” in order to convey a sincere but openly tolerant faith in the divine. In the first message of our series, Pastor David shares how the Western assault on religion began, commends those who want to be spiritual, but challenges us to see that following Jesus requires more.
