Sadness is normal. There is a lot in this world that shouldbother us. So, we shouldn’t hide our pain and grief for fear that we will be judged. As we see in Christ and the Scriptures, sadness can reveal that you’re alive and that something isn’t right. Sadness cries out for healing. It’s only when it defines and controls you that it’s a problem—like a dark cloud hanging over us, it blocks out the light. Prolonged sadness leads to depression, and depression leads to despair. In Dealing with Depression, Pastor David shares a balanced approach to overcoming the darkness in our lives.

Patterns of Light (2 of 4)

Sermon Series: Patterns of Light | Advent 2017
Sermon Title: Stained Glass Souls
Scripture Reading: Psalm 51:17; John 8:12; 2 Corinthians 4:6

Patterns of Light.jpg

Jesus said that he came to fill our hearts with his light. He wants us to let that light shine out of the broken pieces of our lives. Throughout the biblical story, we see that God is in the business of using broken things to create something new. Like sunlight shining through stained glass, God’s holy light comes to us in Advent to illuminate the beauty of his mercy and grace in our lives. In Stained Glass Souls (2 of 4), Pastor David encourages us to let the light of Christ shine through our brokenness.
