Our world is changing rapidly. The church has the challenge of engaging a world on the move. In doing this, Jesus has called us to shape and form lives that will go out into the world and transform culture. Listen as Glenn and Glenda Moyer (missionaries from Columbia) share about their work with young people, their observations about what God is doing in the world, and how we can join the Spirit in building the Kingdom.

One of the great challenges the church has faced throughout the ages is how to live among and engage with the broken world around us. What does it mean to be in the world but not of the world? How are we to be disciples of a holy God in a sometimes unholy world? In Missional Living(5 of 6) Pastor David shares some insights into how we should engage a post-Christian culture with the gospel of Jesus.

Getting the Gospel Right

Sermon Title: Getting the Gospel Right
Scripture Reading: Mark 1:1-15; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8; Ephesians 2:8-10

A few years ago Barna found that 90% of children that grow up in evangelical homes make a decision to follow Jesus, but less that 25% are still following Jesus by the time they're 35. What is going on that so many adults who make a profession of faith in Christ when they were young aren’t continuing to follow him today? Could it be that much of the church hasn't fully embraced the gospel of Jesus? In Getting the Gospel Right, Pastor David says we haven't, and he challenges us to embrace the totality of the gospel message.

Roots (6 of 10)

Sermon Series: Roots: Exploring the Core Values of the Brethren in Christ
Sermon Title: Witnessing to the World (6 of 10)
Scripture Reading: Matthew 5:13-16; 28-18-20; Luke 15:1-7

Jesus said he is the light of the world. He came proclaiming good news to the poor, sight for the blind, and freedom for the captives. With God’s authority, he told his disciples to let their light shine and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey his commands. How do we shine our light and engage our culture today with the gospel?

In Witnessing to the World (6 of 10), Pastor David challenges us to creatively navigate culture with a sense of urgency, and to be a faithful presence of Christ to the world around us.

Aliens & Exiles (7 of 9)

Sermon Series: Aliens & Exiles
Sermon Title: The Gospel in Post-Christian Context (7 of 9)
Scripture Reading: Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; 9:1-16; 17:16-34

What Jesus began did not die with him on the cross. Jesus was resurrected and seen by hundreds. The Jesus movement exploded in the face of relentless persecution. Saul of Tarsus, a zealous Pharisee in charge of ending the threat, encountered Jesus through a light and a voice on the road to Damascus. From then on Paul becomes the apostle to the Gentile world. What can we learn from his life and approach to engaging a pagan world?

In The Gospel in Post-Christian Context (7 of 9), Pastor David invites us to humbly and creatively evangelize the world while living in exile.
