Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week. It's when Jesus enters Jerusalem on a donkey to the waving of palm branches. But why does he ride in like this? What does it mean? And what does Jesus reveal about what faith entails if we're going to follow him? In Fickle Faith... Ain't Nobody Got Time for That!, Pastor David calls us to cultivate conviction that propels us forward to take risks and do whatever is necessary to be faithful to God.

It's good for us to remember the people who have made an impact on our faith. And the author of Hebrews wants to encourage us to press on by remembering that we're a part of a bigger story in a long line of faith. In Leaving a Legacy of Faith, Pastor David invites us to honor those who have come before us and consider how we're passing on the faith to others.

40 Days in the Desert (1 of 6)

Sermon Series: 40 Days in the Desert: Faith Formed in the Wilderness
Sermon Title: Welcome to the Wilderness (1 of 6)
Scripture Reading: Mark 1:9-13; 1 Peter 1:7,13-16; Hebrews 12:7-8

40 Days in the Desert.jpg

The gospel of Mark says that the Spirit drove Jesus out into the desert after his baptism. Jesus was tempted for 40 days and his identity and calling were put to the test. In a similar way, disciples often undergo times of testing in the wilderness where God wants to shape our character and strengthen our trust in him. In Welcome to the Wilderness (1 of 6), Pastor David invites us to discover an authentic faith while living in a dry and barren wasteland.

Dealing with Doubt

Sermon Title:  Dealing with Doubt
Scripture Reading:  John 11:16; 20:24-29; James 1:5-8; 2:14-17

There is a great misconception about faith that is fairly popular today. Many people think that their faith is only as strong as they are psychologically certain. Therefore, doubt becomes a threat to faith, even to our salvation. But is that really what the Bible teaches? Should we really just push aside our doubts and not ask questions. In Dealing with Doubt, Pastor David shares how doubt isn't the enemy of faith, but rather it's an opportunity to grow in our relationship with Christ.

Sermon Series:  Jesus Heals
Sermon Title:  Whatever it Takes (3 of 4)
Scripture Reading:  Mark 5:24-34; Luke 5:17-26; James 5:13-16

A woman with a chronic bleeding disorder stops at nothing just to touch Jesus and receive healing. A lame man’s friends can’t get through the crowd so they tear a hole in the roof and lower the cripple down to Jesus to be healed. What are you willing to do so you can get the healing you need? In Whatever it Takes (3 of 4), Pastor David talks about the sort of faith that makes it possible to receive healing.

Aliens & Exiles (4 of 9)

Sermon Series: Aliens & Exiles
Sermon Title: Living in the Land of the Lions’ Den (4 of 9)
Scripture Reading: Daniel 6:1-28; 7:13-14; 9:1-3; 10:1-13

The temple is gone and the people of God have been carried off into Babylonian exile. But God has not abandoned his children. To the surprise of many, God is present and active in the lives of those seeking to be faithful while in exile. It’s in the book of Daniel that we see God honor the faithful, empower the exiles, and prove his sovereignty over all the nations on earth.

In Living in the Land of the Lions’ Den (4 of 9), Pastor David encourages us to be holy amidst unholy empire, trusting that God can protect the church and reveal his divine favor in our trials.
