Anabaptism is the first stream in our heritage, and it is the one stream that sets the Brethren in Christ apart from most other denominations in America. This is where we receive our call to peace and hear Jesus’ command to love our enemies and live non-violently in the world. In Anabaptism: The Way of Peace (2 of 6), Pastor David invites us to love like Jesus and embody the gospel of peace by praying for our enemies.

Roots (8 of 10)

Sermon Series: Roots: Exploring the Core Values of the Brethren in Christ
Sermon Title: Pursuing Peace (8 of 10)
Scripture Reading: Leviticus 24:19-20; Matthew 5:38-45; Ephesians 5:1-2

Jesus taught us to love our enemies and showed us how to live non-violently in a violent world. When Jesus said, “You have heard it said… but I say to you” (Matt 5:43-45), he was calling his disciples to leave the old way and live in the new way of love. This new way is radical and appears foolish to the flesh, but through it we discover the wisdom and power of God.

In Pursuing Peace (8 of 10), guest speaker Greg Boyd (author, pastor & theologian) challenges us to live in love as Christ loved us and gave his life for us.
