It's one of the greatest challenges that followers of Jesus face today in our American culture: saying “no” to things that aren’t good for us (or are of lesser importance) so that we can say “yes” to the Kingdom. But being a disciple means that we must deny ourselves and resist outside forces that often oppose God's best for us. Doing this requires grit, resolve, and discipline. In Saying No For God's Sake, Pastor David invites us to reflect on the need to say no, as we prepare to enter the Advent season.

Jesus told his disciples we must deny ourselves and take up our own cross if we want to follow him. As we see with Jesus’ own example, he first learned this lesson while resisting Satan for 40 days in the desert. In It’s Not About You (2 of 6), Pastor David shares how our faith is formed through self-denial and why we must resist temptation if we want to live according to the truth about God, ourselves, and others.
