Sermon Title: The Mothering God
Scripture Reading: Isaiah 49:15; 66:12-13; Psalm 36:7; Luke 13:34
The Bible tells us that God is neither male nor female; God is spirit. This means that God transcends gender and encompasses both male and female qualities. And though we typically use masculine pronouns to refer to God, the Scriptures use both male and female imagery to describe God. In fact, Jesus himself appropriated Old Testament mothering metaphors in revealing who God is to us. In The Mothering God, Pastor David invites us to encounter the Lord as the compassionate caregiver our souls long for in this life.
