We have certain rules for clothing. Consider how we purchase clothes for our children because of the upcoming school year, or how we buy new clothes for our jobs. We typically seek to wear what is right for the occasion. In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul is concerned that the Colossians not simply look like Christ followers by outward appearances. Instead, Paul uses a mixed metaphor to help us understand that the inward living presence of Christ clothes us with identifying virtues. Our personal character reflects our identity as Christ followers in a diverse culture. In What Are You Wearing?, Eldon Fry invites us to allow the Spirit to work in us so that we might be clothed with Christ and reveal him to the world.
